Bangladesh Trying To Sweeten Ties? Yunus Sends Mangoes To PM Modi.. Can we Trust these Chameleon Snakes ?
Reports indicate that Professor Muhammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, has sent a consignment of 1,000 kilograms of the renowned Haribhanga mango variety to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a gesture of goodwill between the two neighboring countries.
This initiative is being viewed as an attempt to normalize and potentially sweeten ties between Dhaka and New Delhi, which have reportedly been strained since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government in August 2024.
The mangoes are scheduled to reach New Delhi today, July 13, 2025, and will also be shared with dignitaries from the Indian Prime Minister’s Office, diplomats, and other officials within the next couple of days.
Additionally, Professor Yunus has also sent mangoes to the Chief Ministers of West Bengal and Tripura, bordering Indian states.
This gesture, often referred to as “mango diplomacy,” is not a new phenomenon in India-Bangladesh relations and is considered a symbolic act aimed at fostering friendly relations and exchange.
