NEW DELHI/PITHORAGARH: A strategically vital link road in Uttarakhand almost till the high-altitude Lipulekh Pass on the Line of Actual Control with China has finally been completed by the Border Roads Organisation, in a development that will boost troop movement in the border region as well as help pilgrims during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
The link road originates from Ghatiabagarh in Dharchula and terminates at Lipulekh Pass, the gateway to Kailash Mansarovar, with the altitude rising from 6,000 feet to 17,060 feet during its 80-km length. With completion of the road, it will now be possible to complete the yatra in one week instead of the two-three weeks it took earlier.
