In a startling revelation, an IB report has exposed the existence of four Islamic State (IS) colonies in Wayanad.

According to the report, these colonies have been meticulously established, mirroring the Islamic way of life seen in regions like Syria and Afghanistan.

The villages, created by purchasing extensive land and constructing enclosed structures, operate as self-sufficient communities. The facilities within include madrasas and religious schools, and the entire setup operates with a high level of secrecy, restricting entry to outsiders. The IB report underscores that the funding for these colonies originates from Malaysia.

Only selected Muslim families are permitted to reside in these villages, with stringent regulations barring outsiders, especially non-religious individuals, from entering or acquiring property. This has raised significant security concerns, as the IB highlights in its report submitted to the Union Home Department.

Further investigations are underway, focusing on funds from Malaysia being invested in quarries and turf court’s in Kerala. Numerous institutions in Wayanad are now under IB surveillance, with particular attention given to potential connections between these colonies and quarries.

Income Tax amendments:
1. Time limit for tax incentives for eligible startups, units in IFSC and certain Sovereign Welfare and Pension Funds, expiring in March 2024, have been extended for one more year till 31.3.2025.

2. Petty Disputed Income Tax Demands upto Rs 25000 upto FY 2009-10 and of upto Rs 10,000 for FYs from 2010-11 to 2014-15, to be waived off by the Government. This is expected to benefit around 1 crore taxpayers.

3. The recent changes in TCS on LRS remittances and foreign tour packages announced in various press releases, have been incorporated in Legislative section 206C(1G), through amendments in the existing language of this section. There is no reduction in TCS from 20% to 5%.

4. The time limit for incorporation of Faceless Scheme for Income Tax Appellate Tribunals has been extended for one more year till 31.3.2025.

5. The threshold time limit for the benefit of reduced corporate tax rate u/s 115BAB of 15% plus surcharge, in case of a newly setup manufacturing Companies up to 31.3.2024, has unfortunately not been extended further. So new manufacturing Companies which are incorporated on or after 1.4.2024 will be taxed at 22% and not 15%, if they opt for the new regime.

India and France have decided to deepen their Indo-Pacific security, defense, and space ties, with deals ranging from military-industrial cooperation to boost the former’s exports, jointly building a helicopter engine, constructing additional conventional submarines, and joint satellite launches in the foreseeable future.

These agreements were reached during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to India to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade. He also met one-on-one with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after which the two sides signed several agreements in strategic sectors.

The main focus of Macron’s visit, coming as it does for the second time in six months after he visited New Delhi for the G20 summit hosted under India’s presidency in September 2023, was to ramp up the gains the two nations have achieved in the last few years in critical sectors.

Macron and Modi recognized the defense and security partnership as the principal pillar of the two nations’ ties and as a source of strengthening their respective country’s sovereignty and strategic autonomy and advancing peace in the Indo-Pacific region.

Indo-Pacific Security Focus To Counter China’s Expansionism

In a joint statement released after their bilateral meetings, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to further deepen the long-standing partnership between the two countries based on their shared vision for the Indo-Pacific region. The leaders emphasized the region’s significance for their respective sovereign and strategic interests.

They also acknowledged “the crucial role of their partnership in the region for advancing a free, open, inclusive, secure, and peaceful Indo-Pacific and beyond,” an euphemism for countering the aggressive, expansionist plans of Communist China.

India and France signed a Comprehensive Roadmap in July 2023 to boost their engagement in the Indo-Pacific region against China, which is a pain for Indo-Pacific nations with its territorial claims. China has inflicted military conflicts not only with India but also with other nations, such as the Philippines, with which it has behaved aggressively in recent times over claims to the Second Thomas Shoal.

India’s ties with France extend from intelligence and information exchange to military exercises and defense equipment purchases across all domains from the seabed to space.

Defense-Industrial Cooperation To Boost India’s Arms Exports

The two leaders also committed to further deepening the integration between the two countries’ respective defense industrial sectors and “to work together to identify opportunities for co-design, co-development, and co-production with the objective of not only fulfilling the defense needs of the Indian armed forces but also of providing a viable and reliable source of arms supplies to other friendly countries.”

The aim is to boost India’s defense industrial capabilities and capacities to meet its target of US$25 billion in military production and US$5 billion in arms exports by 2025. The defense industrial collaboration, especially from the design stage, not only creates quality jobs for the youth and advances Modi’s vision of a ‘Self-Reliant India’ but also supports broader progress in scientific, technological, digital, and material sciences fields to realize the vision of ‘Developed India’ for 2047.

Airbus, Tata Tie-Up For Civilian Helicopters

The two leaders also announced Airbus’s decision to partner with Tata Advanced System to begin the assembly of single-engine H125 civilian helicopters in India. The two companies will become the first private sector companies to produce helicopters in India, in line with the Indian government’s strategy of self-reliance.

Airbus has decided to give growing orders for aircraft parts in India for its European assembly plants. The Final Assembly Line for H125s will be ready in 24 months after the two companies decide on the location, and the India-made helicopters will roll out from 2026.

Scorpene Submarine Localization Plan

The two sides also announced a comprehensive helicopter partnership with a Joint Venture for an Indian Multi-Role Helicopter engine between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran, apart from localization of the Scorpene submarines being constructed in India, including indigenization.

In July 2023, when Modi was in France, the two nations announced the construction of three additional Scorpene submarines by the Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock and Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). Still, they removed it from the joint statement then.

Joint Satellite Launches Soon

India and France are already cooperating in the Space sector, with each other’s satellites being launched by their respective space agencies. This Space sector relationship has lasted for six decades, and the two nations established the Strategic Space Dialogue in June 2023 to take their cooperation a notch higher by providing strategic guidance and direction across all aspects of space cooperation.

India and France committed this time to further expanding space cooperation for “the benefit of their countries, humanity, and the planet, including through co-development, manufacture and launch of satellites and payloads, research in new launch vehicle technologies and reusable launch vehicles and connecting the startups and users in both countries.”

To facilitate the Taxpayers registered under GST with more methods of payment, two new facilities of payment have now been provided under e-payment in addition to net-banking.

The two new methods are Cards and Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Cards facility includes Credit Card (CC) and Debit Card (DC) namely Mastercard, Visa, RuPay, Diners (CC only) issued by any Indian bank.

Payment through CC/DC/UPI can be made through Kotak Mahindra Bank irrespective of CC/DC issued by any Indian bank. Other banks are in the process of integration. At present the facility is available in 10 states and remaining states/UTs are expected to join soon.

1. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra (PAN: AAZTS6197B) has been notified under sub-clause (b) of Section 80G(2), thus enabling deduction U/S 80G for donations made to the Trust.

The temple in Ayodhya is a milestone.

Not because it’s where Ram was born or because Hindus have run out of temples. No, it’s a milestone because it’s a crucial precedent. A statement. Not of Hindu supremacy or Hindu Rashtra, but of something far more fundamental and far more encompassing than just Hindutva. Let me start with some snippets from the past.

Most Muslim-mandir interactions did not result in destruction. They resulted in conversion. Even when destroyed, the materials and the site were invested into the construction of a new mosque. Now India is no small geography. There was never a shortage of land for new structures. And yet, they chose to build them exactly where temples stood before. Why?

Not because they needed a place of worship, but because they needed to humiliate. To establish conquest. To loot too, but mostly to make the statement.

No, it’s not practical to undo every single one of those episodes. But it’s crucial, VERY crucial to ensure that history doesn’t get dismissed selectively.

For the longest time, it has been.

Not just in India but the world over. Every continent Islam has touched, places of worship have magically turned into mosques. Countless Zoroastrian fire temples, countless churches and even cathedrals, countless synagogues…have fallen to this deluge of institutional savagery. Hagia Sofia and Temple Mount are just the better-known names. But lesser names abound. Iran and Central Asia are littered with mosques that used to be atashgahs or fire temples.

Spain is littered with grand churches that irreversibly converted to mosque under the 800-year-old Islamic rule. But that country, credit where due, managed to revert most of those back to their former selves.

Others haven’t been so successful. Once a mosque, always a mosque, with some tiny handful of exceptions
Of course, this is just one drop in an ocean that encompasses every inhabited continent.
This wasn’t right. This isn’t right. In the game of bloodthirsty oneupmanship, one religion, one community has always come on top either by the sword, or by tears.

As of last reckoning, the number of places of worship the world has lost to Islam runs in five figures. Is there any merit in reverting all of them? Of course, not. But leaving them be sends out, has sent out so far, a terrible message—that what you take by force remains yours. And taking it back from you somehow makes you a victim.

That message is dishonest. That message enables entitlement.

What doesn’t belong to you, should not remain with you. Not forever anyway.

The temple in Ayodhya is a precedent.

That this reversal is possible.

Whether others follow suit is immaterial.
Whether Ram was born there is immaterial.
Whether Hindus have enough temples is immaterial.
Whether there’s enough mosques is immaterial.

The only fact of any consequence is that this one didn’t belong to you. You should have gracefully relented and saved face. You chose violence.
