SRINAGAR: Three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists barged into the house of a special police officer (SPO) at Tangbal village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district late on Sunday, dragged him out to a nearby paddy field and thrashed him for several hours before letting him off with a warning to quit his job. Meanwhile, in Shopian district, security forces arrested two overground workers affiliated to Jaish-e-Mohammad on Monday.
The heavily-armed trio entered SPO Adil Bashir Bhat’s house, abducted him to a nearby paddy field in the village and assaulted him for many hours. They then threatened him, asking him to resign from his job before releasing him. The SPO is presently posted at Kulgam district police lines.
Police have registered a case against the three Hizb terrorists and launched a search for them, Kulgam SSP Gurinder pal Singh said.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested three Jaish-e-Mohammad overground workers from Wachi area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday. The duo, arrested during a vehicle-checking exercise, was identified as Zahoor Ahmad Koka and Uzair Ahmad Dar, both residents of Zainpora area in the district. One pistol and two hand grenades were recovered from their possession, and a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act registered, said a police officer.
