DJI has launched the second iteration of the Osmo Pocket called DJI Pocket 2. It’s a stabilised mini camera that can record in 4K. DJI Pocket 2 comes with enhanced feature upgrades, improved imaging and audio performance, and a modular design.
DJI Pocket 2 can be purchased in two options from the company online store and authorised retail stores. DJI Pocket 2 includes the Mini Control Stick and tripod mount (¼-inch) at a price of $349. The DJI Pocket 2 Creator Combo includes the Mini Control Stick, tripod mount (¼-inch), Wide-Angle Lens, Wireless Microphone + Windscreen, Do-It-All Handle, and Micro Tripod at price of $499.
The Pocket 2 features 3-axis gimbal for stable video recording and offers a new zoom feature. The camera comes with an upgraded focus system, that enables users to lock onto and track moving subjects faster and more accurately. There’s DJI Matrix Stereo which is claimed to be a new and improved audio system that offers clear sound recording. There are pre-programmed shooting modes that allow anyone to create visually appealing content easily.
DJI Pocket 2 also comes with a removable base plate that allows you to attach new accessories. Similar to the original Osmo Pocket, Pocket 2 can be used as a stand-alone stabilised camera, connected to your mobile device with a dedicated phone connector, or operated remotely with wireless accessories for greater camera control.
Weighing 117 gram and the camera offers up to 140 minutes of battery life. It has a larger 1/1.7-inch image sensor with 20mm f/1.8 lens. Photographs can be captured in 16MP or 64MP images using a high-resolution mode, while a maximum video resolution of 4K/60fps at 100Mbps records.
HDR video has been added too and it also offers up to 8x zoom using the 64-megapixel mode or 4x lossless zoom in 1080p or 16-megapixel mode. Autofocus has been redeveloped using a Hybrid 2.0 AF blend of phase and contrast detection to increase speed and accuracy.
