‘Getting recognition from other boards especially international boards is a big achievement for Bihar’

PATNA: Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has achieved a milestone, as not only students of other state boards and central boards are applying for admissions in intermediate courses (science, commerce, arts and vocational) but class X- pass out students of international boards including Nepal and Bhutan are also applying for admissions in affiliated senior secondary schools and inter- colleges.

As per the data shared by the Board officials, altogether 21,453 candidates of 26 state boards and two neighboring countries boards applied for the admissions in class XI for the academic session 2020-21 through Online Felicitation System of Student (OFSS) software. While 87,338 candidates of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which was nearly 70,000 previous year.

Board chairman Anand Kishor said on Wednesday that previous year, class X pass- out candidates of 19 state boards, CBSE and National Examinations Board (Nepal), however, this time candidates from seven more state boards and Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment also registered on OFSS for admissions in class XI.

“Getting recognition from other boards especially international boards is a big achievement for Bihar. In last two years, we make several changes for which the BSEB has received appreciation from other boards. Several state boards and Nepal board officials visited here to study the techniques that we have introduced from examination and question pattern to online admissions,” Kishor told this newspaper.

He also pointed out that several changes such as student- friendly mechanism for online admissions, better assessment, timely publication of intermediate results and change in question pattern (align with the competitive exam preparation) are the main reasons that more candidates are keen to take admissions in Bihar board affiliated schools and inter- colleges.

The Board has already released the first merit on wwwofssbihar.in, for admissions to intermediate courses in the state. Those whose names have appeared in the first merit list will have to enroll themselves between August 7 and August 17.

Bihar Board has also extended the date of registration for admissions in class XI till August 17 from August 12. Candidates can register for different programmes and they are allowed to pick any schools and inter-colleges of their choice. Students can choose up to 20 inter-colleges or higher secondary schools in their application form.
