Instagram Messenger Room: Instagram users can now video call up to 50 people using Messenger Rooms

Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app by Facebook, has got the support for the recently announced Messenger Rooms, the company announced on Twitter.

“An easy way to video chat with up to 50 of your favorite people? Yes please. Starting today, you can create @messenger Rooms on Instagram and invite anyone to join.”

For those unaware, the Messenger Rooms is Facebook’s online video conferencing tool that was announced last month and was rolled out globally last week. Although the option to create a Messenger Room is available on the Messenger app for everyone but in his announcement post, CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said that the other apps that the company owns — such as Instagram and WhatsApp — will also get support for the new tool.

Using Messenger Rooms, Instagram users will now be able to chat with up to 50 participants at a time.

In order to create a Messenger Room, an Instagram user will have to head to Direct Message section and tap on the video calling icon placed on the top right corner. Tapping on that will open a new window where the user will see an option to ‘create a Room.’ That comes with this description – ‘Send a link to chat with anyone, even if they don’t have Instagram.’

Tapping on that, it will open a pop-up window that reads, “You’ll create this room with your Facebook name and profile picture from your linked account . People with the link can join and share the room with with others, even if they done have Instagram or Messenger.”

After that, they will get an option to choose the people they can select the people they want to invite. Once they tap on ‘join room’ they will get the option to leave the app and go to the Messenger app.
