MUMBAI: Authorities in Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC), which has been spared a complete lockdown, brought in curbs in activity on Thursday amid a highest single-day spike in cases. VVMC recorded 491 cases and two deaths.
Shops in the region were told to shut down at 5pm instead of 10pm. Even as the total cases touched 4,628 and the death toll climbed to 119, a 1,000-bed dedicated Covid hospital was inaugurated at Valiv, Vasai (E) by Palghar district guardian minister Dadaji Bhuse.
It is the first hospital in the region to have centralised oxygen supply system (150 beds).
