“Snaking queues of vehicles were spotted at Kandivali on the Western Express Highway’s south-bound arm at 9am,” said local resident and activist Sandeep Ohri. Congestion was also reported on the SV Road and Eastern Express Highway. In North Mumbai, nakabandis were put up at Samta Nagar, SV Road, flyover near Kora Kendra, Marve Road and Magathane. “Whoever is stepping out of home without any valid reason is being intercepted and booked. On Sunday, we had impounded 750 vehicles in the Dahisar East to Goregaon East belt. On Monday, till the afternoon, 350 vehicles vehicles were impounded,” said deputy commissioner DS Swami (zone 12).

Motorists complained that some of them were pulled up even when they were going to office or within 2kms from home for buying groceries. Snarls were also reported at Tardeo and Lalbaug flyover.
