PRAYAGRAJ: In a relief for buyers and sellers, three main markets of the city—Civil Lines, Sulem Sarai and Katra—will open under roaster system from Wednesday during the fourth lockdown.
After holding a meeting with district authorities, traders associated with Civil Lines Vyapaar Mandal and Prayag Vyapaar Mandal on Tuesday informed that shops of these three markets will open on a trial basis from Wednesday.
If this proves successful, more markets of the city like Allahapur, Kalindipuram, Chowk, Rajruppur and Dhoomanganj masy would open from next week.
Speaking to TOI, Sushil Kharbanda, president of Civil Lines Vyapar Mandal, said shops selling mobile/computer/IT products, hardware, paints, sanitary items, iron, cycles, electrical appliances/electronics, utensils and automobiles would open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9 am and 6 pm.”
Similarly, those of ready-made garments, sports, footwear, spectacles, saree, printing press and flex printing, books, stationery, stamps, furniture/hardware, home décor, gifts, bags and suitcases, tailoring, cosmetics, general store and jewellery will open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Pointedly, there will be no trial and exchange facility at the shops of ready-made garments, footwear and spectacles.
Besides, private offices of chartered accountants, professional consultants, interior designers , architects and placement agencies should be also opened on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
While medical stores and grocery shops are open on all seven days, home delivery of fruits, vegetables and milk is also being carried out the entire week. Even restaurants are allowed for home delivery.
Kharbanda also said that repair work inside auto garages would also resume.
District president of Uttar Pradesh Udhyog Vyapaar Mandal, Ashish Gupta, said, “All norms will be strictly followed while opening the shops. Both shopkeepers and customers, apart from wearing mask and using sanitizers, will abide by social distancing protocol”.
