UP conducts 25 lakh Covid-19 tests in 15 days | Lucknow News


LUCKNOW: The total number of Covid-19 tests conducted in the state crossed 1.25 crore on Thursday, according to an information shared by the state health department. With this, UP accounts for over 13.7% of all Covid-19 tests done in the country.
“UP is the only state in the country to have crossed this milestone. On September 30, UP achieved the one crore tests mark and in the past 15 days, another 25 lakh tests were done,” additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said adding that with the addition of 1,54,163 tests in the past 24 hours, the total tests reached 1,25,09,210.
2,728 fresh Covid cases, UP tally 4.4L+
Of these, over 44% were done through the RTPCR method which is the gold standard in Covid -19 testing.
Officials urged people of the state to get themselves tested even at the slightest doubt as the testing facility was being extended free of charge.
Experts were of the view that UP’s performance was marvellous in terms of absolute numbers, but Tamil Nadu could gain an edge over the state as all the tests conducted in the southern state were RTPCR.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 tally reached 4,47,000 with 2,728 new cases in the past 24 hours. ACS, health, said that the number of active infections in the state to date is 36,295 which is about 46% less than the peak. “For 28 days the number of new cases has been less than the number of patients discharged.”
About 16,000 active infections were under home isolation, he added.
