BAREILLY: A 60-year-old priest and his mentally ill son were found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a temple in Nakhasa area of Sambhal district on Friday. Police are suspecting that the priest killed his mentally ill son and later killed himself. The bodies were sent for autopsy to identify any foul play. Notably two priests were brutally murdered inside a temple in Bulandshahr district on April 27 which is why police are cautiously investigating this case before coming to any conclusion.
This incident was reported from Rasoolpur Sarai village in Nakhasa where priest Amar Singh used to live in a temple with his son Jaiveer (17). Amar Singh was suffering from tuberculosis and his condition was degrading with each day passing and he used to remain tense regarding Jaiveer’s future after him.
On Friday morning, Amar Singh and his son were found dead inside the temple by locals and informed police about it. Soon police arrived with the forensic experts and started their investigation.
After initial investigation, police believe that Singh first strangulated his son to death and later committed suicide by hanging himself with a piece of cloth. Since it was a sensitive matter, senior administrative and police officials also visited the spot to take the stock of the situation. SSP Sambhal Yamuna Prasad, who also inspected the temple, said, “Prima facie it looks like the priest, who was tensed due to his chronic illness, had killed his mentally ill son and later committed suicide. The bodies have been sent for autopsy for ascertaining the reason of death and investigation is still on.”
