UP: Two arrested for Dalit woman’s rape, murder | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: A 22-year-old Dalit woman died after being allegedly sexually assaulted by two youth from another community in the Gaisri police station area of Balrampur. Both the accused, Shahid and Sahil have been arrested.
“We have received a complaint at the Gaisri police station in which the kin of the woman informed that she worked at a private firm and on Tuesday she did not return till late night. Later in the wee hours of Wednesday the girl came on a rickshaw in a bad condition with glucose drip attached to her arms. She was soon rushed to a hospital but died on the way,” said Balrampur SP Dev Ranjan Verma.
“In the complaint, the family members have alleged that two youth raped the girl and took her to some doctor. When her condition deteriorated, instead of taking her to a hospital they brought her back to her home. We have registered an FIR of rape and murder,” he added.
Denying the reports of the accused torturing the woman by breaking her ribs and legs, Balrampur police tweeted that the post-mortem report has not confirmed these allegations.
DIG of Devipatan range, Rakesh Singh said that shock and hemorrhage have been revealed as the cause of her death. “Whether she was sexually assaulted or not will be examined by medical experts,” he said.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
